CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS)

A content management system (CMS) is an online platform with a set of applications software used to create and manage digital content. On this scalable platform it is possible to install modules/extensions to manage your business processes including project management, e-commerce, CRM, ERP, and more. During the past two decades web development has evolved from hard coding to using CMS platforms and many are now available for purchase and lease or are open source (free to use). Each of these platforms have their pros and cons. We have tried most of them including WordPress, Joomla and Drupal to finally choose DNN and Umbraco which are built on Microsoft .NET technology.

LET'S WORK TOGETHER

Q

Do I need a CMS?

A Beyond creating and managing content on your website a CMS can be like a back office where you, your team and your business partners, including clients, affiliates and suppliers, can log in and communicate in a secure and collaborative environment just like in the old days on the intranet. We can also install modules (applications and software) that you can use to conduct your business, such as accounting, project management, ERP, CRM, HR, news system, emails, and more. However, if you don’t want to be involved with the maintenance of your website or using the online business tools it may provide then you may not need one.
Q

What is the best CMS?

A As stated earlier, CMS platforms started to emerge about twenty years ago so the bad ones have already bitten the dust. Among the ones still remaining there are ones you must pay for and the open source ones that are free to use. We like using open source platforms. We know as developers ourselves that it is hard for any company no matter the size to frequently update the technology behind a proprietary software whereas a large community of developers will do it for an open source platform. Among open source CMS platforms, we have tried WordPress, DNN, Umbraco, Drupal, Magento and Joomla, and while Drupal and Magento were close, the best are DNN and Umbraco. With most of our developers and programmers preferring .NET we chose to build websites on these platforms as they are also more suited to build secure and scalable business websites.

Q

Is DNN used by large companies or small enterprises?

A Both. In fact DNN is now over ten years old and was one of the few open source CMS platforms built on ASP.NET as most others are built in the PHP language. At first only the government and large corporations, such as the defense department, Bank of America, and British Petroleum, were using it as they had their own IT departments. We started using DNN over 8 years ago and today many web agencies are using it as it is one of the most secure platforms and most importantly because it is scalable and very user-friendly for users and their customers. Over a million websites have been built on DNN with 396 built by QuickSocial.

Q

How much is a DNN platform and can I learn how to use it?

A The DNN community platform is open source so it's free to use. We will charge you around only $2k to deploy the platform and design your new custom business website. This includes content transfer from your old website or any other data files, basic SEO, training sessions and 3 to 6 months of free hosting, maintenance, security and technical support. Additionally, you will be able to scale your website platform by purchasing additional modules such as e-commerce, project management, CRM, ERP, and more.
